Camping Trip

Went camping with Josh, in Omarama (or thereabouts). It was heaps of fun we packed all the essentials; tent, torch, food, etc etc, and camped by a swollen river (cause they were spilling the dam!). There was lots of water so we decided to go fishing, I caught this trout after a few casts. It was huge and I was very very happy.

Birthday!!

It's my birthday today, my age = x, where x^3 + x^2 - 433x - 2734=3 (I would like to see all working, no computerised function solvers).

[edit 30/1/2011]...When I got home my parents had sent me a package full of things that I like to eat, I am going up to see them for Christmas, also, my older sister Ilse sent me some socks, I like practical presents the best!
So far I've had a great day and tonight I'm going to see Coate + Piha Rescue + Glass Owls at the Wunderbar, it will be premium!

Eggs, Eggs, Eggs

Went dumpster diving last night, got 12 trays of eggs (360). They're all good to eat, I tried 4 last night, and if you're a bit suspicious they will definitely be safe in baking. These eggs must go to a good home... I will not be able to eat them in time.

Also got some fruit loaf + a few punnets of yoghurt.

New Film + New Game

Lachlan and I had a brief fling with a game, Plants Vs Zombies. The aim of the game is to defend your house from a zombie attack with violent plants, it's pretty easy but loads of fun.

Keeping Healthy

I like to watch what I eat. I like to stay healthy. Anyone can measure their intake of nutrients/general health using the Bristol Stool Chart.
Type 3&4 indicate that your body is digesting food and extracting nutrients at it's best.
Type 4 is better than type 3 but they are both pretty good.

John the Baptist

So I'm playing with John the Baptist when they come down to Christchurch. It's going to be loads of fun, I can almost guarantee it.

2 shows:

26th August at the Wunderbar (r18)

28th August at White Elephant HQ (AA) with Von Klap and The Unfaithful Ways.

The date on the poster for the all ages show is wrong.

The Monster Party

Monster Party at Bishop street was last night. I dressed up as Willy the Orca [from 'Free Willy']. Hannah Strom painted my face for me, it looked awesome, but I was so exited I forgot to take a photo. There is not much more to say about the party, excepting that I wish I stayed a little longer.

Bigfoot was the scariest monster of the night.

Degree does not come with frame

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I have two hundred and twenty seven photo's on my computer, they illustrate a game we played, a game I lost. I decided maybe I should just play the game, for kicks + fun. So I danced the other night with my friends we all stood together holding hands and rubbing shoulders, oh how we laughed. It was then that I decided that if I went back on my promises I would draw a picture on the inside of my thigh, I would just write "LIAR".

Sometimes I am reminded of Defiance, Ohio (Road Signs Always Look Better Looking Over Your Shoulder), I think the hole I played was really just a bye. In all seriousness can one begin a sentence with the word "but"?

"That was my favourite age"

Netta's birthday party was great! I attended a delicious dinner beforehand where I ate far too much, the most yum foods were Rin's bean salad & Elan's spinach pastries.

Later all of Netta's other friends came around including Nacho. I had a premium time and am now recuperating in an armchair listening to 'Form'.

I wish I took photos, but this screen-shot seems to suffice.

Lucid

Recording new sounds. I have nothing better to do (possibly sleep).

It's a minor you say, it's a minor

oh what a depressing tune to celebrate your birthday

still we gather around like poor lost sheep

wet wool and eager to become carpet or some sort of furniture

you couldn't think you couldn't think for yourself

And I'm none the wiser listening to his poems and claiming wisdom

if all the academics could gather together try their best at reality

they would never get it, but it's worth a shot worth a shot

a shot of spirit a shot of hope

we should try we should try our best

cutting down poppies for opium

to get high to get high to get high

And the pig in the sty says why am I here

Cause when it comes to science I'm pretty much you

Without a blackened heart and yet still without chance

so I'll dedicate my life for your laboratories

Scraping the Barrel

When food runs low what else is there to do but make a stamppot, minus the staple potatoes.
Blessed with carrots and alfalfa sprouts from a dumpster, I've made a hideous looking mash of nutrition.

[note] My mother makes the best Stamppot ever [end note]

I like to grill some bread, thanks KBs, and dip it in my concoction, I think this is a universal technique.

When you are hungry nothing is better than eating!

Walking in the Cold

I have a friend he enjoys going bowling, playing video games and watching his favourite racing car driver.
He says to me "no one cares"
I say "I care"
He says "I know but the public don't, that guy walking his dog behind us... he doesn't care"
I say "That guy doesn't care for anyone"
He says "I want to crawl into a hole and die"
Later he asks me for a cigarette
I say "I don't have any cigarettes"
He says "I'm going to run away"
I say "Where will you go?"
He says "The Park"
He asks me for a cigarette
I only repeat my self.

Patterned or Plain?

So last night we decided not to sleep, instead we had fun with candles, cards, and a hip hop mixtape.
In the morning Hannah and I had talks in the sun, it was probably one of the most special moments of the weekend.

Dumpster Diving

So last night Hannah and I stayed up all night dumpster diving!

The night begun with Body125 playing a fun show at the Log Cabin and I sung with Thrill Collins which I enjoyed very much, the Log Cabin was full of good times! Ottilie and Vincent gave me a ride to the OOS birthday show, my playlist was too short though so I talked lots on air which I don't normally do, I played a collection of New Zealand punk including a song off the new Vorpal Blade album (which is amazing). Hollon's mum gave me a ride back into town from OOS, which I am very thankful for. Ben, Hannah and myself stayed up late talking about life and drumming on beer bottles with chopsticks, later we walked Ben home and Hannah and I set off in search of dumpsters!!

We found a bag of carrots. We found two danishs. We found four bagels. We found three paninis. We found two french rolls. We had a great time sharing all our food with our friends the next morning!

Wednesday Film Night

So last night we had a movie night.. I think Wednesday film night may become a tradition. We watched two films the first was a really bad indie film about a cult that lived in the sea, I can't remember the name, then we watched a really cute anime about a cat bus and a giant rabbit/friendly animal, I can't remember the name for this one either ask Fionn though!
We started watching Ponya but Alice only had the Japanese version (no subs) which meant that Fionn had to translate so we gave up on that one.
I forgot to take photos so the picture above will have to do. It's from the website 27bslash6 which is hilarious, my favourite is the party emails.

I'm applying for jobs one is working for CYFS and the other is for the YMCA, I think I will prefer to work the YMCA.

Dice and Tuesday and Fortune

I got this book from the Smith's 3$ book sale, dice night will never be the same.
This coming Tuesday (29th) we will play dice and determine our futures!

Everyone should come along.

Some exploits

On Wednesday we had a movie night, it was fun and I played guitar.

On Saturday (today) I purchased a head scarf, it is excellent and camouflage. I wish my moustache was darker.

p.s. I was denied by teachers college, life is much different now that I have no future.

Glacier Trip

So this past weekend Talia and I went to see the Glaciers and Hokitika!
We stayed at a hostel right next to the Hokitika clock tower, there were only a handful of people staying there. We played Monopoly and Scrabble, I won Monopoly by capitalist wit and Talia won Scrabble by superior skill my biggest word was trifle!
It rained lots on the west coast.

We saw lots of rainbows and mystical country side.

The Glacier was magnificent.

Graduate

Maybe I should wait for my grades back before I post this... I don't care because I had, potentially, my last exam ever today. Have an essay to hand in still but it's pretty much done, I feel so good going out drinking with Nadia tonight in celebration.
I have work early tomorrow but I guess this is a pretty good excuse for bags under my eyes.

You can call me a bachelor now, I'm eligible.

Today was my unlucky day

I always feel horrible the night before an exam, I want to go out and spend time with people but I can't. Even if I did decide to spend the evening with someone I cannot think, for the life of me, who I would wish to torment with my pre-exam terror. I scour the internet for a suitable match but they're never there. Oh well at least the heat-pump will keep me warm overnight.

In other news: The picture I have posted is a brilliant example of top down cognition, although the central letters are vague our brain creates sense via the context. Essentially the phrase "the cat" only exists within your imagination, someone once told me everything is imaginary... I think it was Sufi.

We're destined to become our parents

I wrote a song in lieu of writing my essay (which I now have a weeks extension on).
This song is called Pols... I think you can download it from here

Nice guys finish last

Since Year 12 I have wanted to become a secondary school math teacher, I think it's my calling in life. I have just finished my degree in education and mathematics, so today I had my interview for Teacher's College. I was told that whilst I have all the right prerequisites/credentials I am on the waiting list for acceptance, the reason being that I am too nice. Its like a compliment that sucks.

I hope I get in. I will know by next week.

Etch A Sketch

Fionn drew me on the Etch A Sketch.
I was sitting on the couch with my computer.
He has really good Etch A Sketch skills.

Afternoon Tea

We had an afternoon tea at my house, it was so much fun and everyone brought along something to share. There was lots of yum baking, I really enjoyed Netta's savoury muffins and T'nealle's animal pastries.
Will Roud played guitar for us, his music reminds me of Sunny Day Real Estate, although it doesn't sound the same, I really like it.
Teke & Craig played as well, this was great they played some great covers and Teke is always laughing.
Frankenbear played last, I enjoyed playing even though I made a lot of mistakes. My hand got cramp because I played too many songs.

I have some videos which I may upload later.
I will definitely organise another tea party in the near future.

Dice & Vegetables

So last night was T'neale's last dice night for a few months, She crocheted a trophy cup for the grand champion.
My trophy cabinet just got a whole lot more full.
I also received a potato, I'm going to let it sprout then multiply. I am also growing an onion, she's very beautiful.

Who wants to start a guerilla garden club with me?

Things are better now you are gone/here

Hate to be cynical but it's true. Check out these sneakers I won from Hunters & Collectors, I'm not big on sneakers but I think I'll like these after a few scuffs.

As an extra bonus I can run so much faster now.

Technology Tower

I made a skyscraper out of televisions, a Play-station is the steeple/aerial. It is almost as tall as me.

All you need to create your own is:

-3 Televisions (I used Mitsubishi, Panasonic and an unmarked set. You can use any brands you like)
-Sony Play-station 2
-Some elementary engineering skills

How good are these crackers?

Dice night was, once again, superb mostly because I'm grand champion! Mark brought some cheese and crackers, rosemary crackers are so delicious! I have to hold back my tendency to discuss the probabilities of dice and learn to enjoy the game in simplicity.

Every Tuesday night. Now with extra Seasameal.
