So CALH was in Wainuiomata {camp Wanui} this year. It was amazing, I was given the privilege to perform with $noregazZzm for both their sets, I also played a renegade as Fauxhound. Playing at camp is probably the most fun ever. The Fauxhound set went really well. There were a load of people there, which was especially cool seeing the only advertising was word of mouth.

There were a lot of amazing bands there but a few really blew me away, they are as follows;

While Spring Break played the lagoon pool party TalkShow Boy was owning the renegade room. This was seriously an amazing set. Talkshow Boy stormed around the renegade room spitting trash rap vocals to a variety of awesome backing tracks!

Foxtrot

So Flo Wilson is pretty cute and she is also Foxtrot. She did this one song, in the renegade room, with loads of breathing and I felt so weird.... it seemed so sexual but not in a smutty kinda way, I don't know it was weird and AMAZING.

I don't think it is up anywhere but I'm sure they're gonna put something out soon, it's a really rad track and I think you should be getting excited about this band/release. To be fair, though, maybe I only like this band because every member is a babe. They're like that cute girl from your english class who toys with your emotions using a suggestive glance, and you're thinking "what does it mean" but never take action because you don't want to spoil the excitement of uncertainty.

Also the latest $noregazZzm video is out and it's pretty rad. I like Joe's kiwi accent (I'd hope Zach would be proud), Lisandru doesn't have a kiwi accent but, his Romanian/Canadian twang does his Romanian/Canadian upbringing proud.

Also I'm heading to Wellington this weekend with Grass Cannons and Nevernudes, it's gonna be an awesome party they're playing at Fred's on friday (don't ask me where that is... it's in Wellington somewhere).

So last weekend I went back to Christchurch to see old friends. I had a fantastic time hanging out with people I love, my flight almost didn't get to Christchurch because of the fog.

Things I did in ChCh;

-Got to see the brewery for the first time, it was pretty cool, I drunk a milk stout and it was tasty.

- Hung out with Fionn, he let me ride his bike around town while he was visiting the doctor, we had lots of good talks I miss him alot :c. Netta was pretty busy studying, I only got to see her a little bit.

-Got to see the Archive in construction, it's looking really cool, T'Nealle and Jasper have been working really hard on it.

-Hung out with Joel, he left for Europe/Australia at the start of 2010 was really cool seeing him again!

-Went to a Skab/Skub party with T'Nealle and Jasper, we had a killer time ripping up the dance floor!

- Saw Arrietty with Alice, Matt and Hollan at the cinema. I found some free popcorn afterwards too!

-Ate lots of T'Nealle's bread/pizza it was delicious, fresh bread is probably one of the best things ever!

-Went to a 21st, I didn't know the birthday girl, but had a super fun time partying with Joel. I sung Limp Bizkit on the Karaoke.

I did lots more as well but my memory doesn't serve me quite so well. I had such a fun time but I realised just how much I miss my ChCh buds. Oh well this is life, I can't have my cake and eat it.

$noregazZzm and Rackets in Wellington

So $noregazZzm and Rackets played in Wellington a weekend, or so, ago. We packed out three cars and road tripped down to the cold mid-west {it's not really west... but it was cold} the trip was sooo much fun we stopped lots and partied on the side of the road in excitement. When we got to Wellington Rackets gave us an unwanted tour of the cbd, later I meet up with Mark, we drunk beers and talked in his apartment. Before the show I got really excited and engaged my party mindset mode {I'm really a computer running algorithms, so party mode is easily obtainable}. The show was amazing, I think all the bands that played that night simply killed it {in this case 'killing it' is a good thing} , Rackets, $noregazZzm, and Dave Currie's DJ set were simply superb. The following evening was somewhat shadowed by the first, it was still great though, I really enjoyed meeting up with Alice and Sam, I haven't seen those cats in ages :c !! Also I made really good friends with Maddie... actually both nights were really great, but the first had better music.

During the daytime Mark and I saw the Colossal Squid at Te Papa, it wasn't colossal really it was just gross. We had lots of really good talks which kinda made me sad cause I missed our flatting times in ChCh, I also met up with Tyne and Hannah which was cool, a little weird, a little like salt on cuts but not really that bad..... hmmm overall, though, I had an excellent time, now I'm back in Auckland working and partying and making tunes.

So I have finally finished mixing the debut release for Fauxhound. The EP will be released for free download online, I'm looking for chip net labels to release it on, also I think I'll press a few CDRs which will have a bonus Fauxhound/Futurnari song on it. Anouska Van Der Werf, is designing the artwork (this is what I'm waiting on for the release), she's a graphic designer from Auckland and is doing an amazing job!!

I'm really pleased with the final product and think you should be excited!!!

So on Saturday James and I had a 5 hour mod party, it was so much fun! I got one of my light screens working but couldn't fix the power on my other DMG so I couldn't test whether the install worked. Also I switched the covers, now my DMGs are two tone!!

These are two Liz Prince comics that Alice has let me borrow, they are such lovely comics, probably two of the best comics I have ever read. Made me feel really sentimental and a little sad [but a good sorta sad... if you get what I mean]. I will send them back to Alice along with Blankets and Lost at Sea so she can read them!

This is my new room... I used to live in our lounge but have recently upgraded to a small room in our garage, the privacy is nice! I have set up a small recording 'studio' for chipmusic, in the photo my computer is perched next to my mixer in the studio! Really it's just a faux-studio {do you see what I did there?}!!

I think I will read "Lost at Sea" first because it's substantially shorter than 'Blankets'. Comics will be sent away, and hopefully returned, for a long distance comic swap.

So it was a nice sunny day today, did lots of biking around and visiting friends. Home alone right now, getting picked up shortly. Just saw photos of my old flat, it's lost 2 walls but still standing, somewhat depressing. Time to keep my chin up and not listen to Barbarella, by Paul Baribeau, too much.

Simon and I are having post earthquake blues, I'm seriously pretty depressed by all the stuff going on. Hanging with friends makes it seem ok, and listening to Weezer..... Say it ain't so!

We have no water so I have to poop in a bag + bucket [pictured].

Got a 15 pack of 'Black Ice' from a decimated liquor store {we payed $ for it}. I think I'll be able to live through this, wrote some cool poetry about a girl I don't like, it'll be an awesome chip song before you know it!!!

Campus A Low Hum 2011

So camp was awesome, I had a superb time and got to see some amazing bands. My highlights were definitely 10k, ctrix, and old grey wolf. After seeing Old Grey Wolf play we decided to have a chip party in the carpark from the back/side of a car, it was so much fun, ctrix and futurnari played aswell as fauxhound. I'm so pleased we meet up with those guys it was really good to finally network with Oz chip!

I meet loads of awesome people and got to play a renegade set, that seemed to go well.

Phantom Blisstickers

So I got a new job pasting for Phantom, it's pretty badass, I get to drive around town and paste. I start work at 5am {that's the only catch} but working early means finishing early, I really appreciate my afternoons now.

I like my job!

Our vans aren't quite as cool as the one pictured {i.e. no mag wheels} but they are still pretty rad. I've always wanted a Suzuki Carry.

The Night Before

So leaving for camp tomorrow, I'm pretty exited. I made some porridge mix for breakfast so all I have to do is boil water to make porridge. Dove and I are sitting together on our flight up to Wellington, we're sitting right at the back.

I've been practising lots, my set will be full of mistakes I guess that's what people will be expecting though. I wrote a new song which I will, try to, play at camp, it's very romantic.

This weekend is going to be awesome.

Titus Andronicus - Monitor (2010)

So on the PIX board was talk of this amazing band call Titus Andronicus, I had a listen to the album "The Monitor" and was pretty amazed. They're really good with lots of sing alongs and off key vocals, how about you watch the video then have a listen to the album {link below}.

They can be your favourite band and every time you listen to them you'll think of me, unless you play it to the girl of your dreams and she falls madly in love with you, then 2 years down the track you realise she's actually the girl of your nightmares.
